Wondering if you’ve somehow missed an impressive landmark like the one pictured below in SA? Not quite.

At this stage, it’s an artist’s impression of what the proposed Australian Centre for Innovative Manufacturing will look like. More specifically:

“A proposed $50 million Flinders University-led Australian Centre for Innovative Manufacturing (ACIM) at Tonsley will be the nation’s first reconfigurable ‘Future Factory’- connecting Australian companies with the latest manufacturing technologies, research expertise and providing training to modernise workforces.”We’ll let you catch up on this HUGE news in the article released by Flinders, which you

can read here. Just 2 weeks have flown by since our last edition of Great Ideas, but a lot has happened here at NVI. We won’t keep you from catching up!

Happy reading and happy Thursday,

The NVI Team.

▶ Recently, we hosted the eNVIsage graduation for both IMA and AAI participants. Here’s what went down!

Innovative Manufacturing Accelerator: The graduates of our 6 week Advanced Manufacturing accelerator presented the work they did with the IMA mentors, board and advisors, and their respective plans for the future. We heard from Prohab, Elwa and previous IMA graduates Voxon and SMR Automotive, who’ve all integrated advanced manufacturing into their processes since finishing IMA.

While Zac from Ledgard Pruning | Task Automation wasn’t available to pitch at eNVIsage, we caught up with him to present his certificate and ask him about his time in the IMA:

“Before IMA we were very mechanically minded with our pruning system. Where as now, we’re looking towards using sensor technology and how we can use that to increase our profitability”

Australia Awards Indonesia: Our cohort of 25 Indonesians was made up of an array of startup founders, and we were lucky enough to hear from two of them: Julian Chan of sustainable clothing company Cloth Inc and Alex Chandra of ecommerce giant Bukalapak. Hearing their views on business in Australia compared to Indonesia and their plans for expansion having visited was a hugely helpful insight into the value of the Australia Awards project.

We’ve put together a quick snippet of the event and each presentation for you to get a feel of the eNVIsage graduation event!

We’re now accepting applications for the next intake of the Innovative Manufacturing Accelerator. If you’d like more information, head to: nviflinders.com.au/ima

MEET: Caitlan Zukauskas, owner and founder of Luxe Glamping – a unique mobile service based in Mount Gambier which provides beautifully styled canvas bell tents for hire. Luxe Glamping pitch the tent, set up and pack it away after your stay, leaving guests to camp in comfort and free to focus on having a great time!

JOINED NVI: Caitlan graduated from Venture Dorm Limestone Coast in 2018. She went on to deliver the winning pitch and took out the Gold eNVIe. Caitlan then joined NVI on our eNVI.US 19 Startup Founders mission to Austin, Silicon Valley and New York. The tour provided an experience which Caitlan described as “absolutely incredible, teaching her a wealth of knowledge.”

THE FUTURE:
Luxe Glamping is going from strength to strength – expanding their number of staff and developing a camping and event site (Luxe Glamping at Laughton Park), set to open in a few weeks. Luxe Glamping’s substantial growth has given Caitlan the ability to provide more tents to the public and deliver one-of-a-kind outdoor experiences which have the potential to spread throughout South Australia and Victoria, adding another dimension to our regional tourism industry.
