The Sparkke Story
Powered by a group of young women in Adelaide, Sparkke is a progressive social enterprise that is raising awareness and funds for important social issues through the great conversation starters of our generation – beer, cider, and wine.
Hear the Sparkke journey from its conception in May 2016, the hurdles faced whilst trying to make a business fly, and the realities of working in a start-up environment. Kari and Rose will also discuss their products and associated causes Sparkke supports, reflecting on their journeys from tertiary education to now.
Kari is a marketing and communications strategist with over twenty-five years of international experience across Australiasia and the US. She’s created large scale marketing programmes for RM Williams, ANZ and NIKE. During a bout with the flu earlier in 2016, Kari spent three weeks in bed reading widely and researching millennials, and in the process developed the foundations for Sparkke. Highly experiences at leading program implementations, she is also a passionate and compelling advocate for the company’s values and business model.
Rose is the Australian AWIWA Female Winemaker of the year in 2015 (one of the first in a traditionally male dominated industry). She’s won many other accolades and is also qualified wine judge. Rose extends her interests in wine between vintages in McLaren Vale and France each year, in the pursuit of broadening skills, creating beautiful wines and deepening her love of wine, people and culture. She is a flavourist with a strong interest in mentoring young people to refine their direction and skills.
