Sustainability has formed the cornerstone of the entire Tonsley redevelopment, and through collaborative efforts a number of exceptional environmental outcomes have been achieved. As a result of the world leading 6-star Green Star Communities certification, Tonsley has become an exemplar for high quality, sustainable urban renewal both in Australia and around the world.

Matt will be discussing what it means to be a Green Star Community from a number of perspectives as well as insights of progress to date and work planned for the future.

About Matthew Waltho

Matt Waltho is the Sustainability Manager for Renewal SA’s Tonsley Project and as has been responsible for leading the Tonsley project under the Green Building Council Australia’s Pilot rating tool. Prior to joining the Tonsley Project, Matt worked for 10 years in UK Government and Local Council, integrating sustainability principles into economic development policy and large scale infrastructure projects. He also developed the Environmental evidence base and led the Strategic Environmental Assessment for the first Integrated Regional Strategy in England’s North West Region.
