Dee Edwards, Entrepreneurship Facilitator for the Barossa, Yorke & Mid North
Kick start your business idea in regional SA.
Here at the New Venture Institute (NVI) at Flinders University, we’ve been selected to deliver the Entrepreneurship Facilitator Services 2019-2022 by the Australian Government’s Department of Jobs and Small Business, with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship and self-employment amongst South Australians.
NVI will provide practical assistance to interested and aspiring entrepreneurs to start their own business in the Barossa – Yorke – Mid North region, one of 23 metropolitan and regional locations across Australian states and territories.
We’re connecting budding business owners with services to help them succeed
Anyone residing in the Barossa – Yorke – Mid North region will be able to access free services from our Entrepreneurship Facilitator. In particular, many mature age Australians are well-placed to consider self-employment and use their skills to start their own business. Entrepreneurship Facilitator Services also focus on supporting those at risk of unemployment due to redundancy, to create their own jobs.
“We’re excited to bring our award-winning innovation and entrepreneurship services to this region of our state,” says former NVI Director Matt Salier. “We hope to amplify the entrepreneurial ecosystem across South Australia, linking regional entrepreneurs with city-based contemporaries and NVI’s global network to boost regional business.”
Mrs. Dee Edwards, who has years of small business and entrepreneurial experience, will serve as the Entrepreneurship Facilitator for NVI Flinders. She’ll be based at the Barossa Uni Hub in Nuriootpa and provide services across the region.
Build your entrepreneurship skills and networks
Services include providing tailored mentoring, as well as linking individuals to services and referrals that will help them start and run their own business.
“We’ll leverage the unique experiences and learnings of our eNVIsion Limestone Coast accelerator and incubator program based in Mount Gambier to benefit the Barossa – Yorke – Mid North region,” Mr. Salier says.
“As part of our breadth of services offered, we are committed to running our acclaimed Venture Dorm initiative, Australia’s largest pre-accelerator program for aspiring entrepreneurs annually, to benefit all residents of the region”
Former NVI Director Matt Salier
NVI is one of Australia’s premier centres for entrepreneurialism and innovation. In 2019, it was again named as one of the top challengers for university entrepreneurial incubators in the Asia-Pacific region by the UBI World Benchmark Study.
Founded in 2013, NVI has trained nearly 4,000 individuals and supported over 400 start-ups that have raised close to $4.5 million.
